Tailing the Komets

If you'd like to order extra copies

The man to call is Kevin Lentz at 461-8375, or if he's not there Pam Thornton at 461-8827. They can get you copies of Monday's section and of tomorrow's six-page commemorative. There will be 500 extra copies of Friday's paper available in the Fort Wayne Newspapers lobby at 600 W. Main.

There's some pretty amazing stuff in it. In fact, we had so much that we had to hold some of it back and it will run either Friday, Saturday or in the Sunday on-line section.

Special deal at the party

The Komets are going sell vials of the melted ice from Game 7 at the party Wednesday night. People will also be able to get their pictures taken with the cup, and there are a few other surprises planned.

Posted in: Komets

So who's going to the party?

I'm betting Hodgman and Curadeau's jerseys, and maybe Woods and Aquino go the highest.

Let's stop this one right here

I already got a call this morning asking me this. Bob Chase is definitely coming back next year. Period.

Today's package

Posted in: Komets

It's 4 a.m., and I'm still not tired

I just wrote three stories for tomorrow and I think I have enough material for three more. Here are some of the leftovers:

Terry Marchant: ``I am so drained. I could never imagine being this tired. I'm just going through all these emotions right now. There are so many injuries the guys are playing with right now that it's just unreal. It will all come out over the next few weeks."

Great first period

Who is this a fast game! Both teams are flying. It's 0-0 after one, Komets out-shot PH 13-6. Bertram is playing again.

Here's what's going to happen

Komets have to come out cool and collected, not like a mad bull. That's when they've gotten in trouble in this series defensively. They can't win the game in the first five minutes, but they can sure lose it. If they come out firing, I think that plays into Port Huron's hands, especially if FW gets an early penalty or two. The Komets have to come out under control and keep the game under control. Run and gun and they are done.

They sure picked a great night to do blog maintenance

Aaaarrrggggg!!!

What the heck, how much fun was that game to watch?

Here's some quick notes. Al Sims said it's very doubtful Kevin Bertram will play on Monday. Ken Dufresne got a couple of shifts in Game 6, but mostly Brandon Warner played some D. He also played forward. Guy Dupuis must have played 40 minutes in this game, on his 38th birthday by the way.

Port Huron folks were disgusted with the officiating. It was a brutal game, but I didn't think either team had an advantage. Jeff Zehr's penalty with four minutes left was about the dumbest thing I've seen all series.

Woods is coming back

According to Komets general manager David Franke, Derek Woods got a skate across his thigh and needed 14-15 stitches to close the wound, but he's coming back out in the third period.

Celebration!

Bertram didn't come out for the second period

And they just asked for the team doctor to report to the visitor's locker room. We were told before the game that Kevin wasn't going to play and then he started. He was obviously hurting a great deal.

Komets are getting every and I mean EVERY bounce so far, but it's still 1-0 halfway through the second.

Check that, Bert is on the bench but has not been on the ice yet. Derek Woods is not on the bench.

Evgeny Saidachev would be eligible to come off IR and play Monday if there is a seventh game.

Here's the goal by Reynolds

It's 1-0 after the first and the Komets are playing great road hockey.
