The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the 14 gentlemen that will serve as the league's full-time on-ice officials for the 2010-11 season.
The full-time referees for the upcoming season are Boone Bruggman, Dan Dreger, Ryan Hersey, Marc Lavoie, Jon McIsaac and Geoff Miller and the full-time linesmen are Michael Johnstone, Kai Magnussen, John Grandt, Bill McGoldrick, Chris Petrin, Cory Piche, Jon Shaw and Jean Menard.
Bruggman, Lavoie, Miller, Magnussen and Menard are all new to the CHL this season.
“We have a great group of young officials ready for the season,” said Wayne Bonney, CHL's Supervisor of Officials. “I feel we have a collection of officials that are very skilled in their duties and have a great passion for learning and improving. We are very eager for the season to get underway.”
One of the most interesting stories is Magnussen who is making the move from being a professional hockey player to a linesman. Magnussen has played 120 career CHL games (30 goals, 25 assists) seeing action with Tulsa and Rocky Mountain.
The CHL has had numerous officials in recent years advance to the National Hockey League and American Hockey League including both Frederick L'Ecuyer and Gord Dwyer who are both NHL referees.
