What else the Komets are looking for

According to David Franke, the team is continuing to negotiate with defensemen Guy Dupuis, Brandon Warner and Frankie DeAngelis. They expect to be able to sign Dupuis and Warner, and they hope to know one way the other on DeAngelis by next week. (He's currently on vacation).

Looking for two more goaltenders to bring into camp, but are uncertain if Tim Haun will be back.

Looking for some more toughness, maybe at a forward position. Brad MacMillan is a free agent, as is Mitch Woods, and the Komets are not planning on bringing either back.

``I'm looking for some more toughness,'' Franke said. "We answered some of those questions with Schrock coming back, but I still want to find a top guy for that."

OK, me again, I'm guessing the Komets have to be running out of cap space, and the rest of the signings other than the defensemen might end up being kids. Of course, we don't know what the cap is going to be yet, either. I think they were really smart about this in that they signed all the more economical players first because they knew those would be the ones everyone else wanted. Then they protected the higher-priced guys who were not signed and picked them off.

I'm sure Hit has already figured out who's going to play with who, but do you realize they could have a third line where everybody could score at least 20 goals?

Now this is another reason I wish it was a 76-game schedule because this team should be a lot of fun to watch. Another reason I wish it was still 76 games is because it's going to be impossible to get to nearly as many road games.
