Komets lost 3-1 at Rapid City on Saturday night despite out-shooting the Rush 37-26, including 16-5 in the third period. Fort Wayne is 11-14-3 on the road this season, losing five in a row and getting out-scored 25-5 in those games.
Saturday's loss guaranteed the Komets will have their first losing road record in 10 years. They had won at least 20 road games in six of the previous seven seasons. They also need to win four of their final six home games to reach 20 wins at Memorial Coliseum for the 14th season in a row. They have had only four losing home records in their 59-year history.
The Komets are 2-3-2 over their last seven games, scoring just 17 goals. Their power play has been attrocious, scoring just two times in 29 chances over those games.
