The Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation have teamed to fight breast cancer and promote awareness for early detection and treatment by presenting a "Pink The Rink" weekend when the Komets host the Tulsa Oilers in a double-header weekend Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Memorial Coliseum.
As part of the "Pink The Rink" weekend, the Komets will wear a one-of-a-kind jersey in support of breast cancer awareness. The jersey will be white with pink and black trim. The jerseys will be sold in a silent auction starting with the game on Friday, Jan. 20. The auction will end after the second intermission of the game Saturday, Jan. 21. All monies received will be donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation.
In addition to the colorful jerseys, the Komets will use pink skate laces and tape. A sticker of the breast cancer ribbon will be affixed to the player's helmets. Special Komet pink wearables and souvenirs will be sold each night and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Vera Bradley Foundation.
Also, player wives and significant others will be selling "Pink The Rink" autographed player pucks. The pucks will be specially wrapped by the Vera Bradley Foundation and will sell for $10 each. All proceeds will go to the Vera Bradley Foundation.
