Might as well get the kids prepared for their main lifetime pastime early:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Escalating an already heated national debate, a first-of-its-kind TV channel premieres Thursday designed specifically for babies - an age group that the American Academy of Pediatrics says should be kept away from television altogether.
The new, round-the-clock channel is called BabyFirstTV. For $9.99 a month, it will be available initially by satellite through DirecTV and later through cable TV providers as well.
We shouldn't worry, because, of course, parents will use this channel responsibly, watching the programs with their babies and leading them in discussions of the important issues raised. It might be something to be concerned over if there were a possibility people would just dump kids in front of the TV even earlier in their lives than they do now. That would be toally irresponsible, so let's not even imagine it.
