The Cato Institute, which is very good at watching budgets and crunshcing numbers, has issued its final 2012 report on the nation's governors, , grading them on their taxing and spending records.
Four governors were awarded an “A” in this report card—Sam Brownback of Kansas, Rick Scott of Florida, Paul LePage of Maine, and Tom Corbett of Pennsylvania. Five governors were awarded an “F”—Pat Quinn of Illinois, Dan Malloy of Connecticut, Mark Dayton of Minnesota, Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, and Chris Gregoire of Washington.
Gov. Mitch Daniels, though not earning an "A," was among the 17 who earned a "B," with an overall score of 55. The four with an "A" scored from 65 to 69, and the others with a "B" scored from 55 to 62. This only matters, I suppose, if you think Daniels' fiscal prudence is particularly a Republican trait and that Mike Pence would follow his example.
