Concerning the Duke lacrosse team rape allegations:
1. Dumb idea No. 1: Inviting strippers to your drunken debauchery and thinking nothing could possibly go wrong.
2. Dumb idea No. 2: Stripping in front of drunken college students and thinking nothing could possibly go wrong.
3. Dumb idea No. 3: Using your position as prosecutor to keep shooting your mouth off before there were any charges or the grand jury had even convened and assuming no one would ever think badly of you for it.
4. Dumb idea No. 4: Bloviating based on your philosophical/political preconceptions to trash either the alleged victim or the alleged perpetrators even though you can't possibly know what actually happened, never stopping to consider that this would make you look like a reactionary nitwit instead of a rational human being.
5. Dumb idea No. 5: Believing against all past experience that those participating in Dumb idea No. 4 would believe they're the ones you're talking about when you call them on it.
