It's almost that time of year again

This year's Fort Wayne High School Hockey Association season begins Saturday, Sept. 28 with a power play of special events to welcome the sport back to the Summit City for another season. The opening-night matchups feature a rematch of last  year's city championship game as Homestead takes on Leo at 4 p.m. followed by Carroll vs. Snider at 6 p.m. and Bishop Dwenger vs. Northrop at 8 p.m.

Special activities include a ceremonial puck drop for each game by Komets right wing and former Snider standout Kaleigh Schrock. New Komets head coach and former North Side and Snider coach Gary Graham will also be in attendance. Ice D. Eagle will also be performing, and Tom Didier will sing the National Anthem. At the microphone announcing the games will be Mr. ``Hockey Night in Fort Wayne'' Larry Schmidt.

Game tickets are sold at the door and cost $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. For more information on the teams and the season schedule visit http://fortwaynehighschoolhockey.com
