It never stops

I know I frequently get into beating-a-dead-horse territory when writing about governments restraint and sensible spending, but, dammit, Jim, somebody has to. It's for sure the other side is absolutely relentless.

Now we have this, and we all knew it was coming, didn't we?

Rep. Steny Hoyer wants to give President Obama more money to help fix the costly federal health care exchanges that have been roiled by problems since they launched at the beginning of the month.

Asked Tuesday how Congress could help improve the system by which millions of Americans must buy insurance by the end of the year, the House minority whip and Maryland Democrat said, "We can give them a little money."

Well, yes, just a "little more money," even though they already spent $500 million to build the damn turkey.

This just in: The U.S. has spent $3.7 trillion on welfare over the past 5 years. No waste or fraud there, no siree.

Of course there are good things to spend the money on, too.

The world invested almost a billion dollars a day in limiting global warming last year, but the total figure – $359 billion – was slightly down on last year, and barely half the $700 billion per year that the World Economic Forum has said is needed to tackle climate change.

$700 billion a year. What the hell, take it out of petty cash.
