Kevin Knuth, chairman of the Allen County Democratic Party, watched the governor's speech and posted a few comments here. On Daniels' desire to put more teachers into classrooms, he asks, What about the teachers who lost their jobs under the governor's budget? He wonders how we can know whether some privatization efforts really saved money since there were no competitive bids. He talks about Daniels traveling around in his fancy RV in contrast to Gov. Kernan driving the state in the company of a lone state trooper. The last comment I mark down to partisan nitpicking, but the first two are legitimate points of debate.
Steve Towsley notes:
Indiana businesses need to do a better job of rooting out and eradicating provincialism, in the form of higher prices and lower wages than the national median.
It will be far easier to "buy Indiana" from a business that is in touch with competitive pricing and employee compensation norms.
