Clueless in Corydon

Have we gotten so used to ceding power upward that we have trouble even understanding local control? That's one conclusion to draw from new state fireworks legislation:

But Corydon Town Manager Fred Cammack said that — in part because the community has a high number of older residents — officials have received “an awful lot of complaints.”

So Cammack said the town “will definitely look into” restrictions.
“It's typical of the state,” he said. “They pass a new law, then they dump the enforcement on the local community.”

No, they passed a new law letting you override the state provisions if you choose. The state provisions have no restrictions on fireworks, so any you decide to have are up to you to enforce.
