A chilling effect

Al Gore is going to visit Indianapolis to try to win more converts to his global-warming religion. Wonder if Indy residents are prepared for the Gore Effect?

The phenomenon that leads to unseasonably cold temperatures, driving rain, hail, or snow whenever Al Gore visits an area to discuss global warming. Hence, the Gore Effect.

Here in the backwaters of Fort Wayne, we can't get the real Al Gore. We get a guy, John Steinbach, who spent two days and a half listening to Al Gore explain his movie and is now persuaded "the debate is over" and will patiently explain to the rest of us how we need to use a different kind of lightbulb to save the planet. I wouldn't buy Pampered Chef products from somebody who had two and a half days of training.

I don't know what effect seeing Steinbach's presentation will have on your debate's-over sensibilities, but it will probably qualify you to spread the gospel in Terre Haute or Wabash. Watch out for the Steinbach Effect, though. It's not likely to be as severe as the Gore Effect -- probably just lower-than-average overnight temperatures.
