People have such a delicate way of putting things sometimes. The athletic director of Indiana State University, in announcing the firing of football coach Lou West, was a master of understatement:
"I appreciate (West's) dedication to his players and his staff along with his efforts to enhance our program over the last three years," Prettyman said. "With that being said, I have not seen progress in the football program that we had all hoped for, and we will make a change."
West's record? 1-25. "Have not seen progress" indeed.
