Rush to judgment

The Journal Gazette tells Matt Kelty that he should do "what is best for voters":

Kelty also deserves a strong defense, and that means one that is well prepared. Yet, from all appearances, the issues are straightforward, and Kelty has arguably the best criminal defense attorney in northeast Indiana representing him.

Following his initial appearance in court last week, a quick trial seemed unlikely. But it's not impossible, particularly if Kelty's attorney takes the initiative to seek it. Superior Court Judge Fran Gull, who is hearing the case, said a pre-election trial is possible.

If Kelty wants to do what is best for voters, he will publicly request a quick trial. Officials are not obligated to schedule it
