Yes, I must say that I've noticed the same thing -- $1 million just doesn't stretch as far as it used to:

You need at least 5.8 million pounds to consider yourself "comfortably rich" in Britain, according to research for the National Lottery by the Centre for Economics and Business Research.
That "comfortably rich" tag might put some people off, so perhaps we ought to come up with something better. How about the "working rich"?
