It used to be that mostly lefty academics and goofy movie stars romanticized Fidel Castro as anything other than the thuggish leader of a brutal dictatorship. But when el jefe relinquished power this week, it became clear that the romanticized drivel is everywhere:
The preceding days have demonstrated that information peddled by Cuba's legion of academic and celebrity apologists has deeply penetrated the mainstream media consciousness, with credulous reporting sundry revolutionary "successes" of the regime: not so good on free speech, but oh-so-enviable on health care and education.
Wait till the creep dies. There is likely to be an outpouring of gushy nonsense the likes of which we haven't seen since Elvis left the building.
