If you have one liver to transplant and a choice to make between giving it to a heavy drinker and a teetotaler, that's one kind of debate. But if you're going to lump bad-habit health problems in with those of the elderly, whose only bad lifestyle choice was not to die soon enough, that's a whole different level of conversation.
