Badges? City Council members get badges that "are identical to the one that police officers use"? What could possibly go wrong?
Terre Haute City Councilman Ramon "Turk" Roman turned himself in to Terre Haute City Police just after 2 this afternoon.
[. . .]
According to police reports Roman is being charged with impersonating a police officer.
Police tell WTWO Roman was cut off by a driver on Wabash Avenue last month.
He then followed the driver and passenger into a Taco Bell restaurant.
The driver tells police Roman presented his City Council badge, but said he was a police office.
Roman denies that, saying he identified himself as a City Councilman.
Hey, Mitch, do councilmen here get badges? I might have to run for council. Badges are sooo cool. And I wouldn't be an officious jerk about it, flashing my badge all over the place to remind people how important I was. I'd use it the way badges are intended to be used -- to get chicks. Chicks dig badges almost as much as they do uniforms. Hey, baby, wanna come with me to council chambers? There's some business we can table on first and second motions.
