A little bit of fiscal sanity (and every little bit helps) from Indiana's two senators:
Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh crossed party lines Wednesday in helping Republican senators block floor consideration of a bill increasing Medicare
payments to doctors.
Bayh, who said the bill's $247 billion cost was not offset with spending cuts or tax increases, was one of 12 Democrats and one Independent who opposed the bill. All Republicans, including Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar
, opposed it.
Like Bayh, Lugar didn't want the increased spending to be added to the deficit, according to Lugar's spokesman.
Hope Bayh, especially, continues to feel that way when the voting on health reform comes up.
