Today's riddle: What's the difference between a member of the WWE and a member of the U.S. Senate? Answer: One is an outrageous fake who creates make-believe conflict for the entertainment of the masses, the most gullible of whom believe it is all real, and the other is just a wrestler. (With apologies to whoever came up with the catfish-lawyer joke.)
World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. Chief Executive Linda McMahon stepped down from her post, one day after joining the increasingly crowded Republican field looking to run against Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd.
She might liven the joint up, though. It's so dull in Congress these days that a guy yelling "You lie!" at the president during a joint session creates a national furor. Gone are the days when a senator, incensed at having a statement he made referred to by another senator as "a willful, malicious and deliberate lie," jumped from his seat and roundly thrashed his colleague.
