Is Mike Pence being coy beyond the point where being coy makes sense?
Pence has been mentioned as a possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate and as an Indiana gubernatorial candidate. He said he is mulling over the possibilities.
"We've been humbled by the encouragement we have had around the state and the country to seek higher office," he said.
"I'll take the next several months to prayerfully consider what is the next step. The question is can you have the opportunity to make the most difference with the values you have."
If he's not going to run for something, why would he have given up his House leadership role? Mitch Daniels, meanwhile, learned he will have some major name-recognition problems if he decides to seek the presidential nomination. He tied with two other possible GOP candidates in getting only 2 percent in a poll of Republican voters. But considering all the baggage most of the well-known candidates have, maybe being unknown isn't such a bad thing at this point. A certain Barack Obama was pretty much unknown two years before winning the White House.
