Wow, who could have seen this one coming? Israel cuts a deal to release 1,027 Palestinians in exchange for one captured Israeli soldier. And then:
But amid the jubilation, reality quickly came to the fore. The Popular Resistance Committees, the Hamas-dominated militant coalition that captured Sgt Maj Shalit, vowed that it would seize another Israeli soldier to force Israel to release the 6,000 Palestinian prisoners that remain in its custody.
And then Herman Cain demonstrated why counting on a businessman with no political experience might be as bad, though in a different way, as electing a politician with no business experience:
I get the sense watching it that he's so unsure of how to answer this exceedingly easy question that he defaults to Netanyahu's position on the assumption that prisoner swaps must always be the wise, statesmanlike, conservative thing to do. The alternative, that he knows what he's talking about yet is still sincerely inclined to release the guy who planned 9/11 plus dozens upon dozens of other jihadi fanatics in exchange for one G.I., is even worse.
Sort of scary when the one person who seems to have done the best at confronting evil is Barack Obama:
President Obama notified Congress that he's sending about 100 combat-equipped troops to advise African forces on how best to kill or capture (but hopefully kill) one of the truly hideous villains breathing today, Joseph Kony, and destroy his militia cult, the Lord's Resistance Army.
And Obama is absolutely right to do it.
