It IS rocket science

I haven't read enough about NASA's Michael Griffin to make a definitive judgment, but I like what I know about him, and he seems to be the right person for the right job at the right time. For those disheartened about what the roving band of generic managers has done to American business, this alone is encouraging:

"I'm looking for domain knowledge, and it's a nonnegotiable requirement. It's core for me. To do this, you do need to be a rocket scientist," he said. "The managers we had in place were not, in my judgment, what we needed for the change of direction we wanted to take."

President Bush seems on the verge of blowing one of his chances of leaving behind a legacy -- a Supreme Court that will return to constitutional values. But if we return to true space exploration on his watch, history will remember him well.
