I like Tom Hayhurst, both as a person and a councilman, and he's raising some money, so Democrats must think he has a shot at unseating Mark Souder in the 3rd District race. But it will be an uphill fight. The district is, as they say in politics, "heavily Republican," and it stretches across enough of the state so that Hayhurst will have to work hard just to get name recognition outside of Fort Wayne. I don't know much about Hayhurst's positions on the issues Congress addresses, but to take Souder's seat, he will have to move beyond (or around) the standard Democratic fare. I've already said what I think should be one big issue.
