Calling all kids! Here's your chance to become a News-Sentinel Komets reporter for a game. Twenty students will be selected to serve as Komets student reporters. That means they come sit next to me for a game, go home and write about what they experienced and then their story appears in The News-Sentinel. Chose students receive game tickets, press box access for themselves and their families, a special press kit and recognition on the scoreboard and over the public address system during the game. Plus, I make sure everyone has fun. We generally like to keep it between the ages of 10 and 18.
The Komets had right wing Marc Rechlicz and left wing Zak Ray at practice today, and Komets general manager David Franke said the team expects Rechlicz to be in the lineup Friday night.
Komets fell behind 3-1 late in the second period when Quad City scored a power-play goal with Guy Dupuis sitting out another hooking penalty. Komets cut it to 3-2 early in the third period, but were unable to take advantage of a 5:00 power play to tie the game.
The Fort Wayne Komets activated defensemen Keith Rodger and David Cianfrini off injured reserve for tonight's game at Quad City. Both have been sitting on the sidelines for the first three games of the season because of a sore back for Rodger and a sore knee for Cianfrini.
The Komets have placed forward Olivier Legault on 10-day injured reserve with a sore wrist and jammed finger, and general manager David Franke said one more player will need to go on injured reserve before today's game.
