Tailing the Komets

Now it's 1-1

A dump in behind the FW net hit a seam in the glass and bounced directly to Collin Circelli for an easy goal. Shots are 24-11 Ks with 9:03 left in the second. Les Reaney got a two minute minor for boarding David Starenky's head into the boards. Starenky came back the next shift. Komets also just had a goal waved off.

The sign says

"60 years of heart, pride & grit! That's Komet Hockey!"

Komets still up 1-0

In the first intermission. Shots are 17-6 Komets. RC has had a pair of power-play attempts to Fort Wayne's one.

Komets almost made it 2-0 on this.

Komets up 1-0

Brett Smith found a crease with a J.M. Rizk pass. Maybe as important, shots are 14-3 Fort Wayne with 10 minutes left in the first period.

Inside The Zone for April 3

Things to look for in Game 3

* How effective will Konrad Reeder be after crashing through the glass at the end of Game 2? The Rush’s leading scorer has one assist so far and appeared to injure his shoulder on the play.

* Will Les Reaney be more effective trying to get inside the head of David Starenky? So far, Starenky has mostly been laughing at the attempts.

Komets add two amateurs

The Komets announced Tuesday that two amateurs have been added to the playoff roster.

We're getting closer

Wonder what the sign will say this year?

Great job, Bantam Komets!

The Fort Wayne Komets Bantam AA Team won all of their preliminary games in pursuit of a National Championship in the Tier II U14 Division in Wayne, New Jersey last week.  The team defeated the Spokane Jr. Chiefs on Wednesday 5-2, the North Carolina Jr. Hurricanes on Thursday 4-2 and the CSB Hawks from Vermont on Friday 7-2.  The team advanced to the quarterfinals on Saturday as the No. 1 seed in their division and defeated the Tampa Bay Raiders 4-3.  The team advanced to the semifinals on Saturday night and lost a very intense game to the North Carolina Jr. Hurricanes, 3-2.

Here's the sequence

Chris Auger carries the put around the net

Then he shoots it on net with Colin Chaulk on the other side

The scrum is on

Referee Zak Blazic sees the puck under Tim Boron's right pad in the goal

Winner!

You can see the puck just inside the goal under Tim Boron's leg.

Komets just went up 2-1

On a wild scramble in front of RC net. Chaulk got credit. Referee was right behind the net. I couldn't tell how the puck went in. 1:36 left.

Nitty gritty time

It's 7:00 left 1-1 and the shots are 11-5 Rush in the third, and the referee has officially put his whistle away for the night. It's getting nasty. Fun game to watch.

It's still 1-1

Thanks to Nick Boucher stopping Jesse Schultz on this penalty shot.

Now it's 1-1

A really poor line change by Rizk, Throne and Schrock with the puck still in the neutal zone allowed Jesse Schultz to break in on a short breakaway to beat Nick top shelf. Since then, Tom Mele missed a breakaway and Chris Auger hit the post. Komets going on the power play as Reeder just tripped Smith.
