Tailing the Komets

Wasn't that a good game?

I really enjoyed watching last night's game. I thought both teams played really hard, and you could easily tell the overall caliber of the teams by their style of play. Way too many turnovers, but a very hard-contested game with a lot of drama and overall intensity.

I told a few of the guys in the dressing room that it was fun to watch and asked if it was fun to play in, and they all said yes, though they were disappointed in the final result.

What did you think? What do you expect in Bloomington today?

This is kind of crazy

Over their last five games, the Komets have scored 12 goals -- and the odd part is that defenseman have scored eight of them! Jamie Milam has scored five goals in his last seven games.

Komets trail 1-0 after 2nd

Allen goaltender Marco Cousineau made a great save on this deflection by Komets' forward Bobby Chaumont.

Then Colton Yellow Horn got to this rebound to shove the puck just inside the post for an Allen goal.

Starenky-Clouthier fight

Chaulk is not going on the road trip

So he'll miss both the Bloomington and Tulsa games.

Back-up goaltender

Is Larkin Saalfrank who is the goaltender on the IPFW club team which just completed its season. He's 20 and a 2010 graduate of Northrop. He played for Komets assistant coach Gary Graham when he was coaching a junior team in Indianapolis.

``He has practiced with us all year and he’s done well in our practices,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We needed somebody quick because we can’t drive anybody in or fly anybody in in time. Tyler (Sims) is working now. He’s the logical choice, and he’s been playing so if we need anybody to play he can play.''

Suspension updates

In a note I received from the league, both Bryant Molle and Nick Boucher are suspended indefinitely pending further review by the league and will miss tonight's game. There's no timeline given as to when the final decision will be made.

Here's the players' reaction

Here's what happened

Chaulk is sitting this one out

He got sick last night and the team is backing off on his return from a concussion. The Komets have not put him on injured reserve.

Some notes

Here's some preview notes from Friday's notebook:

Thursday's Chaulk update

General Manager David Franke: ``So far, everything is going pretty good for him. We're going to see how he progresses the rest of the afternoon and evening. If everything continues to go well he'll skate in the morning. If there are no problems, he'll play tomorrow night. Right now I'm optimistic that he'll play tomorrrow night.''
