January 19, 2010 - Garrett, Ind. - Brad MacMillan works a three-minute session on a double-ended bag at the DeKalb County Boxing Club on Tuesday, Jan. 19 in Garrett. After the IHL suspended MacMillan for multiple games earlier this season he took the advice of team massage therapist Steve Grogg and began working out with boxing trainer Ed Placencia at the club to keep in shape for his return to the ice.

I talked to him to preview the upcoming IHL meetings next week asked him about Muskegon.
``To my knowledge, and I can't verify this, there is a USHL team coming in and the Lumberjacks are also staying. I have not talked to the owners in the last couple of days. I don't have a confirmed answer to give you as I haven't heard from the ownership, but that's what I'm hearing on the street. To my knowledge the Muskegon team has done pretty well this year at the gate, and I think this is a very viable league to stay in.''
There will be more of our discussion in Wednesday's paper.
The Komets' long-time statistician passed away at 2:02 a.m. today at Parkview at age 83. Tentative services will be for Thursday and Friday or Friday and Saturday. Everybody please continue to pray for his family.
Calling Dick the statistician feels kind of lame because he was so much more than that to everyone in the hockey community. He started most of the hockey programs at McMillan before there was even a roof on the building. He was the patriarch of Fort Wayne's first family of hockey.
The Port Huron IceHawks must hate Nick Boucher.
The Komets goaltender made 37 saves Sunday as the Komets beat the IceHawks 4-2. Boucher is now 11-2-0 during his three years as a Komet in Port Huron with a goals against average under 2.00.
``He played great,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We were flying right from the start. We controlled the game, the momentum and everything. Every guy came prepared to do whatever it would take to win this game. When we do that, we're something.''
I expect this to be the biggest thread on here this week.
Who do you want to win, who do you think will win and why?
I want the Colts to win so we can sell some papers and make some money; I think the Saints will win because their defense is better. Only reason I say that is because Dwight Freeney will be playing on one leg. He's just too important for the Colts, especially against this offense.
PA guy extroidinaire Larry Schmitt came up with this one boys and girls:
``I have come up with the ultimate line name for Schrock, Woods, and MacMillan. I just came up with this 5 seconds ago and you have the scoop. I'm not even going to put it on Facebook yet so no one can steal the claim. Rock (Schrock), Paper (Woods), Scissors (MacMillan (because he cut my hair and he is hard as steel)). Well, What do ya think? Do we have a winner?''
What do you guys think?
