Looking ahead to Port Huron

Al Sims: ``Sunday is going to be a huge challenge for our team. We got embarrassed up there, and our team usually responds when that happens. I expect a response Sunday that we're going to be play a lot better and give ourselves a chance to win the game.''

Justin Chwedoruk: ``

Maybe they got the message

Komets are leading 3-1 halfway through the third period and the thing I've noticed is they've been going to the net a lot more tonight. They have attacked and earned their goals so far and have not let up much on the QC defense. Nick Boucher has been stellar in net, doing a very nice job of erasing a few of his teammates' defensive mistakes. Nice crowd, too, 9,359.

Varone goes to Bloomington

Rick Varone, a member of the International Hockey League all-rookie team last season with the Turner Cup champion Fort Wayne Komets, became a member of the Bloomington PrairieThunder, coach Jarrod Skalde announced Friday.

Varone was placed on waivers Thursday by the Komets and claimed by Flint. He was then traded to Bloomington for future considerations. He will wear No. 21 with the PrairieThunder and be in the lineup Friday when Bloomington meets Dayton in a 6:45 p.m. contest at Hara Arena.

Reggie Primeau needs a hand with something

Reggie is trying to find one of his old jerseys to buy. I told him if anyone could help tracking one down, it would be this group of old (farts) timers. If anyone can help with this, please email me at bsebring@news-sentinel.com. There is a reward. If you don't have one already, we'll get Reggie to autograph Legends of the Komets for you. Or if you do have one.

Status update

Nobody's talking officially or unofficially out of Muskegon, which kind of tells you something, doesn't it? It may be something, it may be nothing, but I would think if it was nothing someone would have said so by now.

Komets waive Varone

The Komets have waived forward Rick Varone to clear a roster spot to activate Mitch Woods on Friday. While battling a knee injury, Varone had one goal and six points in 23 games this season after earning the club's co-Rookie of the Year award last year with 23 goals and 55 points in 73 games.
