Matt Szyroczynski scored two goals and rookie Travis Whitehead scored his first of the season as the Komets beat the Mallards 3-1 before 7,761 fans in Quad City. Guy Dupuis also had two assists, and Tim Haun made 28 saves in goal for his first win of the season.
"I think Chaulker's line played pretty well," coach Al Sims said. "Our power play looked really good, but we didn't get a goal."

The Komets just announced during the presentation of the 2009 Turner Cup championship rings that Sean O'Connor has re-signed with Fort Wayne.
