This will be fun

OK, put your opinions in print on this: For Game 1, which IHL referee do you want to see calling the game? Please be specific as possible about why. No, I do not know whom it will be, though I'm sure we could all have a decent guess. Who do you think deserves to do it, or who do you want to see calling the game and why since those may not be mutually exclusive. LOL. I'll be very interested to read what you think. Everyone always seems to pick them apart afterward, but try making a case beforeh

Notes on Game 6

Bob Chase spent half the night driving around Escanaba, Michigan, trying to keep WOWO's signal going. In fact, the police got interested and followed them for a bit. Think Chaser could talk his way out of a ticket? LOL... How long will it take for Jake Pence to heal the bruise from that blocked shot? What a way to redeem yourself. Everyone in the stadium cringed... Justin Hodgman earned eight power plays for the Komets during the series... Kalamazoo had no short-handed goals in the series, and the one the Komets got decided things... David Hukalo was the MVP of this series.

Possible Finals Schedule

The official Turner Cup finals schedule will be announced Monday, but the Komets are hoping to host Games 1 and 2 on Thursday and Saturday at Memorial Coliseum. The building is unavailable to the Komets on Friday.

Bizarre first period

Wings led 2-0 before the Komets rallied on a goal by Leo Thomas. With 6:58 remaining in the period, the clock stopped for about a minute which came into play when David Hukalo stole the puck behind the Kalamazoo net and passed out front to Brad MacMillan who drilled a slap shot past Joel Martin as time expired. But the goal light never came on. The Wings did not protest, and replay showed the puck was on its way out by the time the green light came on to show time was expired.

My immediate reaction was that MacMillan had his arms raised by the time the horn went.

P.C. is in warmups

But there's no way he's going to play. He's having a tough time holding onto his stick.

The officials are here on time, including referee Mike Hoberg. Huge contingent of Fort Wayne fans. Cowbells and everything.

The Komets had some bus problems on the way to the game but arrived in plenty of time.

Notes on Game 5

Al Sims is a great coach: Knowing his team was snakebit after Game 4, he showed them a highlight tape of all their goals this season against Joel Martin before Friday's game... Justin Hodgman and Reggie Primeau are the only Komets ever to score two playoff overtime goals, and Reggie was at the game... So was Lenny Thornson, back from Florida... P.C. Drouin is going to skate in warm-ups and will be a game-time decision tonight... The overtime penalty call on Detulleo was weak compared to the way Ryan Carroll called the rest of the game. He still called a good game...
