Adirondack & Danbury are gone

The United Hockey League just announced that Danbury and Adirondack have dropped out of the league.

“Both organizations made a business decision to not participate in the league
for the upcoming season,” stated Richard Brosal, UHL President/CEO. “The
Frostbite were not able to secure a lease with the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Without their closest geographical rival in the league, the Trashers made a
financial decision to suspend their operations.”

Big stuff is coming

Adirondack is out, and maybe another team. We'll know more very, very soon.

On Danbury

I'm guessing most of you saw the situation going on with the Trashers today. If not, Trashers owner James Galante was one of 29 people indicted during a federal investigation into the trash industry. Part of the indictment details Galante allegedly paying three players $100,000 each last year and the entire team $750,000 in salary. The UHL salary cap is $275,000.

Players or their wives were sometimes allegedly paid as  employees of Galante's other businesses.

Thanks

There were approximately 3,000 hits on the blog on Tuesday, the day of the dispersal draft, and Wednesday there were more more than 4,000. Thank you.

There's a lot more good stuff coming in the next month or so. Hopefully by then the Komets will have a coach and I can take a day or two off. Maybe I'll have to see about getting a guest blogger.

For the fight fans

Who do you want?

The next coach of the Fort Wayne Komets will be?

Todd Brost is not a candidate (his choice). Pat Bingham is. Bruce Ramsay and Kevin Kaminski have applied as have ECHL coaches and AHL assistant coaches. Troy Neumeier is not a candidate because he still wants to play (good for him). The Komets have already heard from 12 people, and the process is just starting.

Puhalski is leaving

The Fort Wayne Komets are looking for the 25th coach in their
55-year history, The News-Sentinel has learned. Greg Puhalski, the winning-est
coach in United Hockey League history, is taking over the new Chicago Hounds
team in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
