ECHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals series
Fort Wayne Komets vs Reading Royals
1) Thursday, April 17 at Reading, 7:05pm
2) Saturday, April 19 at Reading, 7:05pm
The Komets are up 2-1 after two periods on goals by Brandon Marino and Simon Danis-Pepin. It's also looking like they going to Reading to open the playoffs on Thursday as Wheeling is winning at Cincinnati 3-0 late in the second period. That means the Komets will take the No. 8 seed. They are looking at playing Thursday and Saturday in Reading, and then playing April 24, 25 and 27 or 29 in Fort Wayne. Those are completely tentative dates so don't write them in stone yet.
* If the Komets lose tonight at home to Toledo in regulation, they will be the No. 8 seed face defending ECHL champion Reading in the first round.
* If the Komets win and Wheeling loses in regulation, overtime or a shootout in Cincinnati, Fort Wayne moves into the No. 7 spot. The same is true if the Komets lose in overtime or a shootout and Wheeling loses in regulation.
Christian Ouellet's power-play goal with 2:55 left that sent the Komets home 4-3 winners and into the playoffs.
The first goal was a nifty deflection by Josh Beaulieu
And the second was over Ben Meisner's right pad by Alex Aleardi
Komets just scored early in the second period from Mike Embach.

Figuring all this out is like the SAT for hockey to grab a pencil and tag along
Komets notes as well, including one about this guy.
Because they've all been talking about controlling their own destiny and they don't want any help, maybe it's appropriate the Fort Wayne Komets couldn't clinch a playoff spot tonight. The Florida Everblades rallied to score with 51 seconds remaining Wednesday night and force overtime against the Reading Royals. Then Florida won in the shootout which doesn't necessarily hurt the Komets because it assures Fort Wayne of holding the first tiebreaker which is non-shootout wins.
That means the Komets can't clinch until Friday at the earliest.
