Tailing the Komets

WANE"s Friday highlights

Komets are up 3-1 halfway through second

They went up 3-0 on this power-play goal by Brandon Marino.

Mickey Lang statement

``Unfortunately, it didn't work out here. I respect the Frankes and coach Graham and appreciate them for giving me the opportunity to play for the Komet organization. I wish the Komet team and everyone involved in Koet hockey nothing but success the remainder of the season and the years to follow. I feel very fortunate to have had the chance to play in front of the great Komet hockey fans.''

Vaskivuo statement

``I just want to say that it didn't work out. I leave with a heavy heart because of the success that we had together. Fort Wayne has been nothing but great to me. The fans and locals are what make this place remarkable. With that being said, I am looking forward to a new opportunity elsewhere. I wish nothing but the best to the organization.''

Statement from Komets

``From out standpoint these two players were going to be key members of the 2013-14 Komet team, but things have not worked out from the team perspective,'' Komets General Manager David Franke said. ``We feel that it is time to charnge up the team further and make the right move to better our team in the coming days. So, both players have been suspended until a move can be made. There will be no further discussion on the matter by the Komets until the issue is properly resolved.''

Officially suspended

Mike Vaskivuo and Mickey Lang have been officially suspended, and Jeremy Gates has been activated from injured reserve. When asked for a comment before the game, Komets coach Gary Graham said, ``That's a David question.''

Lang, Vaskivuo removed from Komets roster

Mickey Lang and Mike Vaskivuo did not show up at last night's practice, and now they are no longer  on the team's roster page at Komets.com

Merry Christmas, everyone

Or happy holidays to those of you who are not Christian. Everyone enjoy the upcoming days with family and friends and be safe. Let's hope there's a lot more to look forward to in the rest of this hockey season, which still has something like 48 games to go. God Bless.
