A few years ago I wrote this story about frequent blog participant Mark Shepler and his son Jon who has Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. Well Mark is using Movember to try to raise money to fight the disease. If you would like to help him, you can go to this site to find out more information.
Shawn Szydlowski, Bobby Hughes and Jeremy Gates are all out for this weekend. Kyle Follmer is also out though he did skate a full practice today. Graham said the Komets are also looking to bring in a new player for the weekend. My guess? A center.
Now the Komets are saying no one new before Friday's game.
Going to take part in the Allen County Public Library's Author Fair from Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday if you'd like to stop by and say hi, or maybe purchase a copy of Fort Wayne Sports History for a gift for someone. Then I could sign it for them.

Komets take a huge 1-0 early lead on a power play goal by Mickey Lang off assists from Brandon Marino and Jace Coyle. Cody Reichard is starting in goal.
Game starts at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow and can be heard on WKJG, 1380-AM. And remember, none of you is allowed to watch it or listen to it on your computer at work!!!!!! LOL. Yeah, that will work.

This weekend will bring 20 area high schools to the Fort Wayne area for a statewide “cross-over” tournament. In high school hockey each player must play at least six games to quality for state tournament play.
The Komets have been assigned goaltender Andrey Makarov from the Buffalo Sabres. He's 20 and was signed as a free agent. He played in 61 games for the Saskatoon Blades last year and was 37-17- 5 with 7 shutouts; posting a 2.62 goals against and .919 save percentage. He's meeting the Komets in Las Vegas. Bobby Hughes and Mickey Lang did make the trip, also.
