Opening Arguments

Clever is as clever does

Well, the evidence is in, and the debate is over -- global warming is, er, that is, dogs are smarter than cats:

It was often thought that the feline pet was smarter than its canine counterpart because it needed less attention but researchers have discovered that cat's brains are smaller because they are less social

Well, that will certainly end the debate between dog and cat owners whose anthropomorphically inspired arguments have been so entertaining. It all depends on what one means by "smarter," of course. Dogs get what they want from people by being cute and needy and attentive. Cats don't give a damn about you and let you know it, but they get what they want anyway. Which one is smarter?

Leo:
It's a toss-up for me.
I've owned both over the years...
And as long as we adopt them, care for them, and love them as they love us, we're ALL smarter as a result.

But I will say that in "my" neighborhood, even the birds, squirrels, rabbits and plant life is WAY smarter than most of the two-legged species...
