No matter how much everybody talks about austerity and the need for state cutbacks, there will always be some who don't get the word or don't have a clue:
LINCOLN CITY, Ind. — Some southern Indiana lawmakers say they'll fight to keep funding in the state budget for a park amphitheater where outdoor musicals about Abraham Lincoln are performed.
Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels proposed cutting funding for the Lincoln Amphitheatre in Spencer County's Lincoln State Park, saying the cuts are needed as Indiana looks for ways to balance the state budget.
But two Republican lawmakers from the area told the Evansville Courier & Press that they'll push for continued funding. The amphitheater requested $275,000 a year for the outdoor stage productions that highlight Lincoln's Indiana roots.

Rep. Sue Ellspermann, R-Ferdinand, said the performances haven't broken even but that producers are on the right track and could eventually have the operation running without government help. She said the state already has invested more than $5 million in the Lincoln Amphitheatre over the last 25 years, including money to build it and later upgrade it.
Say it isn't so! The performances haven't broken even? People aren't streaming in from all over the Midwest to see outdoor amateur musicals about Lincoln's boyhood?
The state has already invested more than $5 milllion. Enough.
