A worthy Chucklehead of the Year nominee:
Renewal of federal tax credits for wind energy can save U.S. jobs and reduce dependence on foreign oil, according to Karl Rove, an adviser to former President George W. Bush.
“We’ve got a growing economy that’s increasing energy consumption and wind energy should be part of the solution,” Rove said today on a panel at a wind conference in Atlanta. Extending the so-called production tax credit “should be a priority.”
Some people are professing great shock at this. Karl Rove, the evil conservative mastermind, actually recommends green energy spending? But, come on: He is an evil Republican mastermind committed, as far as i can tell, to no particular philosophy except winning. He looks at any government plan in terms of politics, not the national interest. How can anybody recall "compassionate conservatism" and be surprised that one of its advocates would recommend pouring billions more down the same rathole we've already sunk tens of billions into that has resulted in wind power providing a whopping 3 percent of our electric demands.
