Finally, after all the frivolous lawsuits we've had, here's an important one:
A Florida man has sued the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, seeking recognition of 10 men he says served as president before George Washington.
Samuel Klos of Palm Beach argues that the men who headed the government under the Constitution of 1777, or the Articles of Confederation, deserve the same attention as Washington and his successors, the Tampa Tribune reported.
To tell you the truth, sometimes I think we'd have been better off if we'd kept the Articles of Confederation.

I'm going to have to think about this one a little more. If the bill of rights were attached to the Articles, I'd definitely agree with Leo.
The US Constitution is a marvelous document, modeled in many ways on the government of the Iriquois. It's too bad we've never really paid much attention to what it says, to see if that form of government will work.
Now, now Harl. Some people do pay attention to what the constitution says. Just listen to them quoting lines out of it, just as they do with the Bible, trying to lend authority to their political agendas.
There's an old quote, and I don't know who originated it, about fundamentalist Christians using the bible as a drunkard uses a lamp post - for support, rather than for illumination. Those who pervert the contitution behave in a similar way.
A flag is just a shred of cloth; it doesn't mean anything in and of itself. When's the last time you say a politician searing a constitution lapel pin?
