Game of the year

Until this weekend, I had kept my vow -- announced here a few years ago -- to give up on following IU basketball. I decided to take a look at the Indiana-Kentucky game, though, because it's a long rivalry between two states that are both dear to my heart. Boy, did I pick a good game to come back for, or what? IU's buzzer-beater, 1-point victory over the nation's top-ranked team was as exciting as anythin I've  seen in the past couple of years.

But, hey, let's not get carried away:

Are the Hoosiers back?

The short answer is yes. The long answer will take a season -- at least -- to decide.

The aftermath of Indiana's stunning 73-72 upset of No. 1 Kentucky leaves a NCAA tourney return a likely reward.

As a fan of both the Colts and the Bears, I have enough on my plate, thank you. Anybody wo volunteers to have his heart broken by three teams in the same year needs to think about serious medication.

As a Colts fan, I'm consoling myself with anticipation of the coming draft. We need some serious help, largely because our previous run of great seasons has deprived us of decent picks. Should we trade our first pick for a half-dozen great defensive players, or should we pick Luck on the assumption that Peyton's days as the NFL's premier QB are numbered? I lean toward taking Luck and letting Peyton teach him the ropes. Even in the unlikely event that Manning makes a 100% recovery, he's not getting any younger.
