Guilt trip

I rather suspect that some readers of this blog:

1. Are probably white,

2. But don't feel sufficiently guilty about it.

This little exercise, from The Michigan State University Web site, will set you straight. You are so privileged, you see, that you don't even recognize how privileged you are. Now, go out and apologize to everybody who isn't  white for the circumstances of your birth.

OK, so let me get this straight...

I've spent over 50 YEARS on this 3rd rock from the sun, and in that time, I've become:

Privileged enough to be overly taxed due to my "wealth" (or the lack of it sometimes) just so those that DON'T pay taxes have a program allowing them a free pass....got it.

Privileged enough to own a home (while others get one for practically nothing and in the process drive MY property values DOWN and MY property tax UP....no problem.

Privileged enough to TAKE CARE of what I OWN, while others seek to burglarize me to avail themselves of these same items...fine and dandy.

Privileged enough to see drug sellers with new cars while schoolteachers struggle to provide for their families....OK now.

Privileged enough to be disrespected BECAUSE of MY skin color for no reason...Alllllrighty then.

Sure glad I found out HOW fortunate I am...hate to know I've been disadvantaged ALL this time.

"Guilt?....We don' need no steenkin guilt"!

Seems the only guilty ones are those that made up this "exercise" in Victicratic behavior. Perhaps their time would be better spent taking an engineering course,
building a bridge and then "getting over it".

I hope nobody got paid to come up with that little game. What a crock.

Guilt schmilt. Reminds me of something a complaining clerk said to me when she dragged me into an HR meeting because she felt that taking extra work from the company's proposal manager was not part of her job.

"Well, if you're going to keep SMILING, we aren't going to accomplish anything here!"

Beware of people who need to make you unhappy in order to get what they need themselves. There is no there, there.
