Opening Arguments

Nobody likes us!

Sigh. Guess I'll just go back to bed and pull the covers over my head:

The annual Harris Poll measuring public perceptions of 23 professions and occupations came out Wednesday -- and you can find journalists in the Bottom Ten.
[. . .]

Journalists were rated ahead of just seven other occupations: union leader, stockbroker, entertainer, accountant, banker, actor, and real estate agent/broker.

I suppose that some of the downgrade of the opinion of journalists is many fold - some of it stems from the constant harangue of right talk radio about the "liberal press" bogeyman, and also the total "asleep at the switch" attitude of the modern media that takes everything the politicians say at face value and does not ask the tough questions or do some real investigative journalism - basically their jobs. Also the corporate control and homogenization of big media is to blame.

Whatever happened to the Murrows, Cronkites and Brinkleys of the world? Now all we get is Courics and Zahns.

Keep in mind AJ, the only ones subject to that awful "harangue" of talk radio are those of us that turn it on and actually WANT to listen to it. Just because it's popular, profitable, and it differs from your beliefs, it must be a "harangue" ??

The left already has all the networks on television except fox and damn near all the print too. Don't be so greedy, let us have talk radio.
