Not funny

Democrats seem to be having all the victimization fun these days, with about every third one throwing out the racism or sexism charge five or six times a day. Please allow me, as a conservative/libertarian/moralistic pompous ass, to join in briefly. Just because Dick Cheney is from Wyoming, that doesn't give him any more right than a New Yorker or a Californian to make fun of West Virginia:

Vice President Dick Cheney threw a verbal insult at West Virginians on Monday, but quickly apologized.

Talking about his family roots and how he's distantly related to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, the vice president noted that he had Cheneys on both sides of his family.

"And we don't even live in West Virginia," Cheney quipped.

I know I'm from Kentucky rather than West Virginia, but I still claim the right to be offended, because we've just as often been subjected to that kind of vicious stereotyping. And don't use the "H" word in your replies. Just not acceptable.

Why would anyone be surprised by the attempt at humor from this attempt of a man? Why would anyone be surprised by this Vice President of this President who has the lowest approval ratings in history? I think that is one of his claims to fame. I am so glad that David Letterman is illustrating the Dick for what he is - finely illustrated by his name. Dick. Just as his joke has failed - so has his history as Vice President. Yes he told us that there were weapons of mass destruction and yet there were not. The thing which no one is mentioning is his statement after this failed joke. He said "That is the kind of thing that you can say when you are not attempting to be reelected." Think about it. That should scare us far more than his joke offended us. He is the rear part of a horse act that is leaving the country far worse than when he entered the office. The true weapons of mass destruction have been the lies which he and his front end of the horse have told our country. Shouldn't lies of this magnitude be criminal? Or should we just turn that into a joke as well? No one is laughing.
