Opening Arguments

Not so fast there!

The federal government that wants us to believe it is competent to handle a $1 trillion "stimulus" bill shows it can't even manage the piddly little digital conversion that it mandated:

The U.S. House voted Wednesday to delay the transition from Feb. 17 to June 12, ending an on-again, off-again battle over the effective date.

President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign the bill into law, pushed for the delay after the federal government ran out of the coupons that help consumers buy the $40 to $80 converter boxes needed for analog sets to receive over-the-air digital signals.

About 1.8 million households nationwide are on the waiting list.

I swear, if they keep showing those irritating "don't forget about the changeover" reminders every day for the next four months, I'm going to end up throwing a lamp into the TV. Come to think of it, that would encourage me to finally get the high-def TV I've been putting off. Guess government incentives work!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason for the delay is the lack of coupons, right? The conversion itself is ready, so the question is: How many Congressmen does it take to call the printer?

Cripes, we had our 2 converters a LONG time now.

As to the coupon gig, we can ALWAYS print MORE...(just like our ever-devaluing currency, it would seem).

Same applies to welfare checks (in my part of town, that is) whenever we go to the grocery (that's still open), and behind one of these "recipients", and then watch them get into that brand new SUV.

Sure...more gov't incentives...like the incentive to stay fat, drunk & stupid, all at the taxpayers' expense.
It's "worked" so far...
(yeah right)
