Opening Arguments

So sorry!

Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch (who recently resigned in disgrace) was one of the Republicans who campaigned to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot to define marriage as the the union between a man and a woman. Then she was found to be in "an inappropriate relationship" with someone other than her husband. That resulted in this "apology"from "the gay and lesbian community of Minnesota":

"On behalf of all gays and lesbians living in Minnesota, I would like to wholeheartedly apologize for our community's successful efforts to threaten your traditional marriage," reads the letter from John Medeiros. "We apologize that our selfish requests to marry those we love has cheapened and degraded traditional marriage so much that we caused you to stray from your own holy union for something more cheap and tawdry."

It's possible to appreciate genius-level snottiness regardless of the group or the politics involved, isn't it? This has now become by second-favorite piece of dripping-with-sarcasm insincerity. My favorite is the "Chinese rejection letter," probably deserving of urban legend status and counting as an insult only if you disbelieve its authenticity:
