World class

Any snarky comment here would be superfluous:

The daughter of Cuba's president supports the re-election bid of U.S. President Barack Obama, but believes he could do more were it not for the pressures he is facing, she said in an interview broadcast Monday on "CNNi's Amanpour."

"As a citizen of the world, I would like him to win," said Mariela Castro Espin, daughter of Raul Castro, in the exclusive interview, which was conducted Friday in New York. "Given the choices, I prefer Obama."

But, oh, what the hell. Obama clearly wants to be the president of the world, so it's good he's getting the citizen-of-the-world vote.

Surely you aren't stooping to meaningless name-calling. It is by no means clear that Obama wants to be "president of the world." If you mean it literally, no such office exists. If you mean it figuratively, what's your evidence? G.W. Bush persued the Pax Americana strategy at the behest of the neocons he foolishly surrounded himself with. Your criticism might more reasonably be aimed at Dubya.

My evidence? Dubya disdained the opinions of other world leaders (remember "freedom fries"?) and invaded other countries (i.e., Iraq) on false pretenses with the apparent intention of gaining access to their oil. He ranted on about "if you're not with us you're against us."

Obama has not shown that sort of arrogant disregard toward the rest of the world. Nor has he shown Dubya's disdain for truth. Unlike Dubya, he didn't try to hide the cost of Mideast wars to make his budget deficit look smaller. You know these things as well as I do. Your hatred of Obama is clearly of a personal nature.

Small place to ........ :  Surely if you desire to be president of the world you would "show an arrogant disregard toward the rest of the world" and "invade other countiries on false pretenses"!

And, wasn't it the United States of America that declaired war on Sadam/Iraq?  I do not recall any Army identified as "Dubya" being involved in the near east area.

And why do you insist that those of us that oppose Obama in his seeking a second term are Obama "haters"?  But we will agree that our desire to make him a "one-termer" is very personal!

You know, I'll bet even you could get a job working in Cuba!

President Bush did not disdain the opinions of both Democrats and Republicans in both houses of Congress shortly after 9/11.  They both gave him the go ahead.

You can come back and say that they were lied to about WMD's in Iraq.  President Clinton had cut the budget of the CIA and Saddam Hussein did everything possible to make sure his primary enemy Iran thought that he had them.

Hussein harbored terrorists.  In 2002, Abu Nidal was killed by either the Mossad or Hussein in Baghdad.

Hussein was shooting at our planes on a daily basis when our pilots were protecting the Kurds in the north and the Shittes in the southern no-fly zones.

Going into Iraq was a bipartisan moment in U.S. history.  We can work together.
