Polls apart

For today's "Hmmmn" file. How do we square this

A new poll found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama's first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to just 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better.

with this?

According to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney remain in a deadlocked contest, tied at 47 percent among registered voters and basically where they stood in late May.

Assuming both polls are roughly accurate, that means a lot of people who think Obama screwed up still have no intention of voting for Romney. That doesn't make much sense to me -- I mean, if you think the one doing the job isn't, you know, doing the job, you give the other guy a try -- but in today's hyper-partisan atmosphere -- maybe that's the reality. This country is totally, awesomely screwed, but vote for that slimeball? I'd rather cut my own throat! And so you will.
