Too much of a good thing

OK, I think this bacon thing has finally been taken too far:

Southern California burger chain Slater’s 50/50 has spent the past couple years making a name for itself through its flagship  burger patty that blends 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon into a local hero of a menu item.

In celebration of one the most patriotic months of the year, the 3-location chain is debuting The ‘merica burger — a patty made of 100% ground bacon topped with a slice of thick cut bacon, a sunny side up egg, a new “bacon island” dressing and a heavy slice of bacon cheddar cheese. Bacon on bacon on bacon — apparently the only way to top their 50/50 ground beef bacon blend patty is to go 100% bacon.

I do like bacon, but please. Bacon burger with bacon dressing topped with a slice of bacon? Could I have a bacon shake with that?

Of course, I'm from the "just a little bit of what you really like" school. I discovered when I was in high school that the single dill pickle chip was the best thing about a McDonald's hamburger or cheeseburger. So I ordered on with extra pickles, and guess what? By the time I finished the burger, I was tired of dill pickle chips. The best eating experience is just to have the one chip and make sure it is perfectly centered. Then you slowly eat your way around the burger so the pickle chip is in the very last bite you take. Exquisite.
