Opening Arguments

Snubbing Maggie

One of the best allies we ever had, and this is the respect we show:

Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed ‘surprise and disappointment’ last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral.

Whitehall sources have revealed that the US delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz.

Much, much too busy trying to ram gun control and immigration reform down our throats. This isn't just an Obama effrontery, however -- nobody from the Bush or Clinton familes will attend, either. Margarert Thatcher was the last of the giants, and the lilliputian pissants can't be bothered. No big surprise.

Considering what she did to the British economy I think the title Baroness is altogether fitting.

Of course we are speaking of a "giant" that felt there was "no such thing as soceity."

Mr. Larson unfairly edits Mrs. Thatcher's statement.

The statement is:  There is no such thing as society. There is a living tapestry of men and women and people and the beauty of that tapestry and the quality of our lives will depend on how much each of us is prepared to take responsibility for ourselves and each of us prepared to turn round and help by our own efforts those who are unfortunate.

I suspect the phrase that the left rejects is "take responsibility for ourselves." Somehow that concept is missing in leftist philosophy.

Mrs. Thatcher spoke the truth and as Churchill remarked, "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it (as Mr. Larson has done), but in the end; there it is."
